We the Sociologists of Education and other educators
gathered at the federal college of Education, Pankshin, plateau State Nigeria,
this 18th day of October, 2007 hereby agreed that it is desirable to
have and form a more enduring National Association of Sociologists of Education
and by an expressed consensus hereby decide for the association.
Objectives
of the Association
The Association of Sociologists of Education of Nigeria
herein and hereafter referred to as the Association or ASEN adopt the following
as statements of objective;
1.To
promote the discipline of education in a not-for profit and non-government
spirit in Nigeria.
2. To
promote the cultivation and propagation of knowledge for the use of humanity.
3. To
foster research in education with a Sociological bias and dissemination of same
for general utilization.
4. To
vigorously promote the study of the Sociology of Education, without bias for
any perspective, school of thought or theory.
5.To
inculcate knowledge through teaching and investigative research work concerning
pedagogy and the culture of Nigerian people.
